On Saturday I was lucky to stay very close to home, photographing Kelly and Tyler’s wedding at the Coppleridge Inn just outside Shaftesbury. I started the day with Tyler’s grand entrance in a fabulous American Mustang muscle car.
The guests soon followed, and everyone gathered in the courtyard, nervously eying the sky; Kelly had her heart set on a woodland wedding in the Coppleridge’s Arbour, but the weather was being very British, and just not playing nicely. It was very changeable, but in the end the decision had to be made and a quick seating change was accomplished by the Coppleridge staff before the guests were ushered into the still-lovely but sadly indoors 18th century barn.
Kelly’s bridesmaids arrived – the older ones looking fabulous in a soft moss green, and her flower girl suitably adorable in a white lace dress with a full tulle skirt. All of them were carrying simple and strikingly elegant posies of gypsophilia tied with the rustic hessian lace which was carried throughout the theme of the decorations.
Kelly arrived with her dad in a gorgeous bespoke dress by Agnes Fashion Group, with an embroidered bodice set off by a beaded waist detail and simple full skirt. he bouquet echoed the gypsophilia posies of her bridesmaids, with the addition of simple white roses and a little greenery.
The weather became a little kinder during the warm and affectionate ceremony in the barn, and as Kelly and Tyler became an official ‘Mr & Mrs’ the sun decided to pop its head out, and the guests were able to enjoy the drinks and canapés outside (plus we managed some sunny group photos on the lawns just in time before the next summer downpour!).
Kelly, Tyler and I escaped into the woods to make sure Kelly had her photographs in the Arbour at least! It’s always one of my favourite parts of the day as the couple enjoy their first moments alone, enjoying the peace and time to breathe, reflect and really see each other for a short while.
Soon it was time to join their guests in the marquee for the wedding breakfast and speeches, and to greet the evening guests.
Kelly & Tyler kicked off the evening with their first dance, and I left just as the DJ ramped up the sound and the party got under way.
Thank you both for having me as part of your day – it was such a warm and close family affair, it was a genuine pleasure to be part of it.
