Coppleridge Inn Dorset Wedding of Alexandria & Jack

I arrived at the Coppleridge Inn for Alexandria’s bridal preps with one eye on the sky; we were forecast for regular showers all day and as usual I was hoping that we escaped them for the biggest outdoor moments of the day! The Bridal room was busy as usual, filled with bridesmaids, Alexandria’s sister and her Mum. The flowers were all arranged by one of the bridesmaids, and I could already see the theme of the day in them – gorgeous muted vintage tones of dusky pink accented by soft peaches and creams.

The bridesmaids were all in elegantly simple 30’s styled gowns in dusky pink Georgette, and Alexandria herself had a beautiful full-skirted chiffon gown with heavy hem embroidery, with a long-sleeved lace fitted bodice.

I left the girls with their final preps and headed off to the tiny St Thomas’ church at Melbury Abbas. Another glance at the sky told me we were so far so good on the weather front!
I arrived to find the boys setting out he parking signs up the road to the church – St Thomas is tucked away in a tiny back lane, but a nearby field provides plenty of parking space as long as oyu direct your guests to it! Jack and his Groomsmen were all looking dapper in matching checked shirts and country tweed, a link to the farming roots of the entire wedding party.

Just as guests began to arrive the sky darkened, and a sharp heavy downpour meant the last few had to make a rather soggy dash for it. However it lifted as quickly as it had begun, just in time for the vintage car procession containing the bridesmaids, Alexandria’s Mum & Chief bridesmaid sister, plus of course herself and her father.

The relaxed ceremony whizzed by as always, and then we were back outside for a quick family photo outside the church which has strong family ties. The guests had the usual fun with the confetti tunnel to the car, and then I followed the couple up to Cann Hill – a beautiful spot above the couples farm overlooking the Blackmore Vale. After a quick stroll in the breeze we headed back to join the guests at the Coppleridge Inn – we’d had the best of the weather on the hill, the perfectly-timed drizzle began once we were safe inside with drinks and canapés.

Taking advantage of another dry spell we took the few formal family photographs out in the Coppleridge’s woodland before entering the marquee for the sit down reception.
Speeches followed the cake cutting, and Jack’s rather emotional speeches was followed by much hilarity from the combined efforts of the four Groomsmen!

Then it was into the barn for Alexandria & Jack’s first dance as husband and wife before I said my goodbyes and left them to an evening of country dancing!

Congratulations Alexandria and Jack!
