Sophie & Nigels Wedding At Mortons House Hotel Corfe Castle Dorset

Just before Christmas I had the pleasure of heading down to Mortons House, a 16th century Elizabethan manor house hotel in the heart of the beautiful Corfe Castle here in Dorset to capture the wedding of Sophie and Nigel.

I arrived to the usual hustle and bustle as Sophie and her bridesmaids finished their preparations, Sophie looking absolutely stunning in a fabulous silver grey fishtail dress overlaid with beautifully embroidered lace. The bridesmaids were in chic midnight blue, and the combination of blue and grey was set off perfectly by the subtle lemony cream of the flowers.

The boys were giving Sophie away, and they all looked incredibly relaxed and proud as they accompanied her down the stairs to meet Nigel as he waited in the ceremony room with his eldest boy who was his best man.

It was a small family wedding, with just their closest family and friends in the ceremony room – sadly Nigel’s parents were too ill to attend, but thanks to the power of modern technology they were able to watch a live stream video of the marriage, and kept up with the day’s events as they unfolded thanks to social media sharing from all the family and guests!

The room used for the wedding ceremony itself was warm and seasonal, with lit Christmas tree and the old wood panelling reflecting the roaring fire and the glow of the candles and lanterns that lit the ceremony as the couple exchanged the vows they had written for each other.

The weather was, of course, changeable (it was, after all, just before Christmas!) but thankfully not too cold and with enough gaps in between the heavy showers to allow us to take a walk once Nigel & Sophie were husband and wife and the guests had shared a drink and canapes with the newlyweds.

Corfe Castle is always a pretty village, but dressed up for Christmas and with the moon shining down it really was a rather magical stroll up to the castle which had also been lit up specially for Christmas before we headed back inside not for a traditional wedding breakfast but for a pretty special High Tea.

The lovely speeches came from the Chief bridesmaid and eldest of the boys and then a Caricaturist set to work as more guests arrived to enjoy dancing the night away to the DJ and the band Blame George.

Thank you Sophie & Nigel, for allowing me to share in your lovely, warm relaxed wedding.
