Recently I had an absolutely fabulous time covering Heidi & Julian’s wedding at North Cadbury Court, just across the border into Somerset. It’s not a house I had visited before – but I admit, I totally fell in love with the place!
Heidi and Julian had set a 1920’s theme to their wedding, and when I arrived it was to a busy Brides room filled with chatter amongst the vintage accessories. The bridesmaids were wearing individually styled beaded vintage-look dresses, with accompanying flowers in deepest russets and antique tones.
Heidi’s dress was a fabulous drop-waisted style in heavy lace, accentuated with an oyster silk sash – an absolute classic in 20’s styling.
Heidi’s Dad walked her through the house to the North Hall, which was atmospherically lit by fairylights festooned across the ceiling and lamps around the walls.
Heidi and Julian are a lot of fun as a couple, and it showed throughout the ceremony as they laughed and joked with each other and their guests. Once they were officially husband and wife, it was time to relax with their friends and family – who had all joined in with the 1920’s theme and were carrying off a range of vintage outfits with panache and enthusiasm.
As the ceremony wasn’t until late afternoon there was no chance of a wander through the grounds for us – but we took a few minutes to explore a little of the house together so that Heidi and Julian could have a little peace and alone-time away from the noise of the party.
The wedding breakfast was served in the Ballroom – lit just by candles and fairylights on twisted tree branches, it looked spectacular and as it was an intimate wedding the guests soon filled it with warmth and laughter.
We moved back to the North Hall for the first dance before I headed on my way – leaving the party to move down to the cellars for the casino and Secret Disco.
Thank you Heidi & Julian – it was a wonderful day, and I loved being part of it.
